About Dao

Growing up in a small Thai village, Dao’s first job was to feed the silk worms raised in big bamboo trays in the shade beneath her parents’ house. Her mother taught her to weave, dye, cut and stitch the silk to clothe all the family.

As a teenaged seamstress Dao learned speed, skill and hard work in clothing factories in Bangkok. She studied fashion at the Bangkok Technical School and later moved to England where she studied at the London College of Fashion in design, pattern cutting, millinery, bridalwear, couture tailoring, textiles and business in fashion.

She was senior dress-maker for a leading Fulham Road couturier before setting up her own business.
